October 29, 2008. Constantine Cannon LLP secures third largest antitrust settlement in U.S. history for its client Discover Financial Services in its lawsuit against Visa and MasterCard. Led by Partners, Jeffrey I. Shinder and Matthew L. Cantor, Constantine Cannon (along with co-counsel) helped Discover secure a $2.75 billion settlement from Visa and MasterCard. The Discover settlement followed an August 20, 2008 ruling by the Court granting Discover partial summary judgment and denying most of defendants' dispositive motions. Mr. Cantor and Mr. Shinder were also among the lead attorneys in the Constantine Cannon team that acted as lead counsel in the In Re Visa Check class action, a case that resulted in the largest antitrust settlement in U.S. history.
